Diego Hernández Suárez
Diego Hernández Suárez, born in Bilbao in 1982, began his cello training at the age of 5 under Professor Mihai Besedovski. He pursued his musical education at the Conservatory “Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga” in Bilbao and later at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música de El Escorial” where he graduated with honors. He furthered his studies at the Escuela Superior de Música “Reina Sofía” in Madrid under Prof. Natalia Shakovskaya.
In 2003, he joined Prof. Gustav Rivinius’s class at the “Hochschule für Musik Saar”, Germany, earning his Diploma in Violoncello and later a Master of Chamber Music with Academic Distinction. Diego received scholarships from the “Fundación Caixa” in collaboration with the DAAD during this time.
As a founding member of the Et Arsis Piano Quartet, he completed a postgraduate course in Chamber Music at the “Folkwang Universität der Künste” in Essen (Germany). The quartet garnered international recognition, winning numerous competitions and performing extensively across Europe and Mexico.
Diego has collaborated with renowned chamber musicians and performed in prestigious venues worldwide.
Diego is also an experienced chamber music pedagogue, sharing his expertise with aspiring musicians through teaching and masterclasses. He was Assistant Professor at the “Hochschule für Musik Saar” from 2012 to 2018.
Currently, Diego is a member of the “Orchester der Klangverwaltung” and the Quart.essence String Quartet and he is the solo Cellist of Ensemble Les Essences and the chamber orchestra “Euphonia Orchester München” of the renowned violist Rebekka Hartmann.
